We all want to be successful. So why is it that most people do not achieve the level of success that they are looking for? The best answer to this question is MINDSET.
We are a product of our past environment. So what does that mean? That means that you have certain beliefs about yourself and success that have been created by your past experiences, parents, relatives, television, school, and your friends.
Those experiences and the messages you received, both subconsciously and consciously created a belief into your subconscious mind about who you are and how much money you will make and how big of a success you would become financially. When it comes to money and finances this is called your money story. We also have stories that are embedded in our subconscious mind about who we are in relation to money, success, relationships, habits and our attitudes.
These are also referred to as comfort zones. This is our belief structure our internal core of who we are. All of the stories combined makes up the person that we are today and keeps us exactly in the place that we are currently in. If you tried to break out of that comfort zone or the belief system that you have, it will draw you back in and you will self sabotage yourself unknowingly. You will always return to who you believe you are.
This doesn’t mean that you have to remain where you are in life and never achieve success. The first thing you need to do is to find what success means to you. A lot of people define success in relation to how much money they have in the bank, what kind of house they live in, the kind of car they drive, what kind of schools their children go to, etc. Success could be a schoolteacher who dreamed of becoming a teacher. Success could be the man who opened up his own automotive mechanic shop because he loves to work on cars. A success could be a stay-at-home mom who just wants to be a good mother raising her children in what she believes is the “right” way. So what is your definition of success?
The next thing you need to do after you define what success means to you is to clarify what your goal is to be a success. Clarity always needs to come first. After you set your goals then you need a step-by-step plan on how to get there. By having a plan in place on how to get there you will be able to clearly see if you are on track to creating your success. It also helps keep you focused on the most important tasks to help you get to the next level. Now that is the tech part of success. You can have the tech part in place but unless you change your mindset about the belief around who you believe you are, you will not achieve success.
To start to change your belief about yourself you have to start envisioning yourself and your life like you are already a success. In other words what would it look like if you achieved the level of success that you are looking for? What would that mean to you? Would that mean you would have more money in the bank and be debt free? Would it mean financial freedom and less stress, happiness, contentment? After you define what it will look like when you achieve your level of success then close your eyes and envision exactly what that looks like. See yourself being financially free and having less stress in your life. See yourself taking those great family vacations, living in a better house and neighborhood, driving a better car, dropping your children off at a better school. Feel it and be specific about it. This exercise should excite you and stir some positive emotions within you.
Do this 3-5 times a day. Do this as you’re going to sleep at night and as you’re waking up the next morning. Say out loud that you are a success and that you are debt free. You want to change that belief in yourself and this is how you replace the old belief with the new.
